New Look

WordPressAfter playing with WordPress for the last month I decided to use it as a Content Management System or CMS. It is due to this work taking up my time that I haven’t been updating the content as much as usual lately.  I hope to get back to regular updates and adding additional content now that this is done.

I also took the opportunity to revamp the sites look and feel. The end result is the updated look which is based on a template by Oliver Roick called Amsterdam Nights but with a few enhancements and a couple of different banner graphics. When looking for a banner graphic I found two that really impressed me but I could not make up my mind as two which one to use.  To simplify my decision I decided to create a software solution, I modifies the template to randomly choose between which of the two banner images are displayed.  The two images I found we taken by Graham Fleming and Anke S. Kessler. The first is a fabulous night shot looking toward our apartment from the opposite side of False Creek. The second was also taken from the south side of False Creek but from a further distance and higher altitude.

To achieve the full functionality of the site I utilised several plug ins including some of my own. I will detail out this information in a later post.
