Heart Attack and Quadruple Bypass

Well my father’s good living has caught up with him. Jeaniene and I were over for dinner on August 26th after picking up Emery. That evening my Father had a heart attack. This was his second heart attack but this time he realized what was happening and drove himself to the hospital. Not to smart but he was in such a hurry he left my mother behind.

Back in October of last year my mother and father were down in Portland visiting relatives. My dad woke up in the middle of the night feeling “funny” he passed it off as a case of heart burn. Then in December of that year he had an episode where he passed out after not eating all day and walking to a Hockey game from our apartment. The stadium staff checked him out and determined his blood sugar was low. This episode prompted a doctors visit along with several tests. These test reveled two things first that my dad had diabetes but also that he had had a heart attack some time in the past.

Fast forward to last week, after our visit that evening my dad awoke with the same feeling as back last October and put two and two together and decided he needed to go to the hospital. At the hospital they confirmed that indeed he was having a heart attack but that it was a minor one. After an angiogram it was discovered that my father had one coronary artery that was completly blocked and another that was 80% blocked. It was decided that my father required Coronary artery bypass surgery during which it was discover that four bypass grafts were required.

Aside from a minor infection in the wound in his leg from which they harvested the graft artery.
