Kazaa Pays To Settle Piracy Lawsuits
Kazaa, the file-sharing service now owned by Sharman Networks Ltd., agreed to pay more than $115 million to settle lawsuits brought against it by the entertainment industry. Kazaa also agreed to use filtering systems to prevent users from exchanging copyrighted music and movie files and plans to work with entertainment companies to sell licensed content. The agreement marks the end of litigation against Kazaa that began in 2001.
