What does “proper” mean?
- Web search?
- better wordpress search?
- Google search?
- KKK search?
- AAA search?
- Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence?
So confused
The Search Widget that is included in the Widgets plugin does not have the correct template hooks. This Widget does.
FANTASTIC!!!!! was searching for this plugin already 5 days. and guessss, the latetst i saw was yours, you should put it op on wordpress.org widgets page!!
thanx again!!
Ivan
Very nice. Thank you. Google site search plugins return too many misses. I prefer the simple WP search but it never looked quite right with my theme. Your plugin looks much better without having to style it. Best!!
This plugin gives me a fatal error in WordPress 2.7.
Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in /wp-content/plugins/rjs-widget-proper-search.php on line 55
Same fatal error on WP 2.6.
When activating I get the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in /var/www/html/blog/wp-content/plugins/rjs-widget-proper-search/rjs-widget-proper-search.php on line 55
Thanks. I edited widgets.php in wordpress 2.6 to work with my template - but lost when I upgraded. Having it as a separate widget is much better.
If people are confused by the name, you could try renaming to “template-ready search”.
I do agree this should be on wordpress.org widgets - I bet many people install wordpress, apply a widget ready template, then get frustrated about the search. Going to wordpress.org shows a lot of complex/specific searches when people just want a “proper” simple search.
