Vancouver from Cypress

This is a panoramic shot that I took from the lookout on the way up Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver. It overlooks Stanley Park and the downtown core of Vancouver. I took it as several shots with my Canon S400 and “Stitched” it together using Canon’s software for that specific task.

Izamal

In Izamal, more than anywhere else in the Yucatan, the superimposition of Catholicism and Spanish culture on top of Mayan tradition is visible. Long before the Spanish arrived, Izamal had been a prosperous ancient city, occupied continuously from the late Pre-classic period onwards (from about 300 BC). Twelve large pyramids made the city one of […]

Uxmal

Uxmal means “thrice built” or “thrice occupied” in Maya. The name stems from the three distinct periods that the site evolved from. We spent five wonderfully relaxing days here in January. This was to be […]

Crib Tournament 2004

After winning for two straight years Jeaniene relinquished her crown in 2003 to Monica. Monica also was unable to defect as Teresa won the 2004 Crib Tournament and took home the coveted “Peggy” trophy.

The Magicians Pyramid 3

“Legend tells that this temple-pyramid was built by a powerful dwarf magician, who was hatched from an egg by his sorceress mother. Under a threat by an Uxmal king he was ordered to build this temple within a fortnight, or else lose his life.”
